ADVOCACY | EDUCATION | SUPPORT
Montgomery County Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health, Inc. is a charitable, non-profit family driven organization run by family members who have children with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. We offer resources, services, and support to help other families raising children facing similar challenges.
Federation of Families Support Partners, Parent Engagement Coordinator and Family Navigators are here to: provide support, resources, information and discuss options with families so that they can make the best choices for their children. Staff members are NOT lawyers or therapists, and do not provide legal representation or counseling. We can however, in some cases provide resources, preparations and support for such meetings.
The following is a brief summary of some of the services we offer families: |
|
|
 |
Family Navigators |
Family Navigators help families by: linking them with assessment/evaluation and direct service resources; providing emotional support; going to meetings, at school, court, hospitals, and social service agencies. Assist families to help them decide what they want and need, and how to use their strengths to address their needs, etc. |
Family Support Partners |
Work in a care coordination process and provide individual and group family-to-family support to families participating in the wraparound process through Maryland Choices. They specifically work with family members to: identify represenitives for their child and family team; promote family voice, choice and access during every phase of the wraparound process; ensure that they are treated as equal partners at every level of decision making; and serve as their advocate. |
Parent Engagement Coordinator |
Helps family members gain critical skills and knowledge so that they can become the best advocate for their own children. She helps families by: showing them how to navigate the juvenile justice and other child-serving systems; linking them to resources and supports; providing emotional support; offering educational programs and family-to-family support; going with families to meetings, such as agency meetings, court, schools, hospitals, and social service agencies; and assisting them as they decide what they want and need. |
